DJ POETIC SINZ
Poetic sinz (nee Khadiya) has loved the arts such as painting,
drawing, and music from a young age, but poetry and expressive writing
captured her heart most deeply. Her passion for writing was sparked by
a creative writing project in elementary school, becoming a quiet
refuge during a timid childhood. Writing allowed Poe to escape life’s
rough valleys, first exploring themes of nature, joy, and childhood
wonders, and later evolving into reflections on love, relationships,
spiritual & religious connections, pain, and personal growth shaped by
lived experience.
During her college years, Poe immersed herself in poetry workshops and
gradually found the courage to perform on stage. With growing
confidence and support, she realized poetry was not just a passion but
a lifelong calling. Over the years, she experimented with various pen
names, like Lady of Reason and Abstract Techniqz, before finally
landing on poetic sinz, a name that reflects her edge, flaws and
intention to move beyond traditional, predictable verse. Over the
years her style has expanded to free writing and will soon release her
first chap book featuring writings she has done both old and new.
With music, Poe has always centered her life around different genres
of music based on her parents and connection with her writing. Her
late father was from Sierra Leone in west Africa and mother from the
US. Her core influences were jazz, African drums and rhythms, soul
R&B, gospel, and old school hip hop with daps into rock & pop music.
Her love of music helped grow into exploring using turntables thanks
to her best friend Aaron aka King Guru along with owning her own dj
controller in 2023. Since then she has immersed into an international
sensation via Mixcloud and Twitch.
